Morning and welcome.
I moved to SFA in Scotland from Leeds last week and (when she comes back from holiday) will be bringing my 9 year old up here, away from her Dad. I was lucky in that she was born before the law changed so her Dad doesn't have automatic parental responsibility and he's never bothered going to court to get it.
He obviously wasn't thrilled about the move but as I've put my intentions regarding visitation in holidays etc in writing and have also agreed that he can stop paying the pittance he gave me in child support, he agreed not to try and stop me.
Have you spoken to your ex about the situation? My advice would be to broach it as early as possible. When my ex first found out about the plans he went off it to the point where I went and saw a solicitor about my rights as I was so worried but now he knows I'm not trying to screw him over, he's ok about it.
As Chianti says, the key thing is the parental responsibility which if your little boy is only 2, your ex will definitely have.
