Writer: Texas A&M running back Christine Michael is a dark horse Heisman candidate

Health is the only thing surrounding Texas A&M running back Christine Michael that could deter a stellar senior season.

Injury has been the only thing holding Michael back from being one of the nations best backs after three years at A&M.

With unlimited potential and a stout offensive line, Michael is poised to have his best season since arriving in College Station and the college football landscape is taking notice.

Chris Huston of CBSSports.com recently put Michael on his list of dark horse Heisman candidates.

?It?s common sense to project that Michael, a talented senior who ran for 899 yards last season, will improve his numbers thanks to the loss of backfield mate?Cyrus Gray?to the NFL,? Huston said. ?As a result, he should be in the conversation as one of the top backs in the newly-reconfigured SEC and, if he stays healthy, he could have an All-American-level season.?

Huston believes Michael is capable of producing big numbers with a lot of touches but he will have to have big games against A&M?s best opponents to make his case.

?If he can do that against a schedule that includes?Arkansas, Alabama and?LSU, he might emerge as a Heisman candidate,? he said.
