Cat Care: How To Deal With Bad Cat Behavior

It is known that even we as humans do not behave that well all of the time. Why should animals be any different? When we say animals, we broadly speak of all its kinds, whether they are wild or domestic. Let us consider one particular species of animal, the cat. Cats, like dogs are a good pet to have. But as cats are animals too, there may come a time when they do not behave as well as we want them to. This is why you need to know when bad cat behavior is presenting itself so you can try to understand why it happened and perhaps what possible factors made them behave this way.

What are the different types of bad cat behavior? Some of the most easily corrected behaviors are eating plants, walking on countertops, sucking wool, vocalizing, and finally, spraying cats. Cats with these types of behaviors may easily be straightened out through different kinds of activities. Other more severe behaviors may consist of messing outside of the litter box, peeing in your bed or in your shoes, damaging your property like furniture and equipment, and finally the worst would be biting, scratching or attacking you and your household members aggressively.

There are usually reasons why such bad cat behavior is exhibited and all of the behaviors can be corrected with time, persistence and patience. Some of these reasons include a filthy litter box or a new type of litter, physical abuse or neglect, a need to sharpen their claws, mark territory, and properly stretch their body, jealousy or possessiveness and the need for cats to be neutered or spayed. Also, if the conditions have recently occurred, a cat may be sick.

Once you understand why such behavior is being displayed, the easier it is for you to implement the best possible solution to correct it. This could be a great lifesaver for the cat, make life easier for the owner, and could help save money.

If you notice anything unusual from your pet, especially if it relates to elimination is to important to seek immediate help from your veterinarian to rule out any medical concerns. Cats are known to hide symptoms of a disease until they are severely ill. Also, you should never give your pets any drugs which are not prescribed by your veterinarian. Animals do not respond to drugs the way humans do. Always spay or neuter your pets as this will lessen vocalizing and spraying.

By agreeing to be a pet owner in the first place, it is our full responsibility to take good care of our pets just as we would with other members of our family.
