China's Wen to visit Germany and Britain (AP)

BEIJING ? Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao will visit Hungary, Britain and Germany next week, the Foreign Ministry announced Thursday, amid the financial crisis in Europe.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said Wen is visiting at the invitation of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, British Prime Minister David Cameron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

But he did not give a specific agenda for the June 24-28 trip, saying only that Wen would discuss "issues of common concern."

Top on the list could be Greece, where rioters have clashed with police in Athens over proposed austerity measures, and coalition talks between Greece's government and opposition parties have collapsed, renewing fears of a government debt default.

Hong told a regular news conference that China was watching the situation and that it was a long-term investor in the European securities market.

"We hope Greece can realize stability and development through cooperation with the EU and the international community. We hope the eurozone countries will be able to realize stable economic growth," Hong said.
